Raymond Harder Obituary

Born August 7, 1930 in Soledad, CA to Otto and Elizabeth Harder. On December 18, 2010, he peacefully passed away. After growing up in the small farming and ranching community of Soledad, CA he went to college at San Francisco State University and used his Business Administration degree to embark on a long and illustrious career in international business. His family is very proud of his many adventures over the years of traveling to 87 different countries, making friends throughout the world and being on hand to witness many historical events. He was an avid tennis player winning local and regional events spanning the 60's, 70's and 80's. He was a lifelong 49'ers and San Francisco Giants fan and was thrilled to get to see both win World Championships. He retired in 1996 as a Director and Vice President of a 250 year old multi-national company. Even with the heavy traveling he was always there for his children whether it was for little league, school or any personal advice or needs. After growing up and living the majority of his life in California, business took him to Mobile Alabama in 1975 where he met his loving and beautiful wife, Carol, whom he deeply loved. While not born in the South, he was a real southern gentleman. After retiring in 1996, they moved back to Santa Rosa, CA where he spent the remainder of his years. Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Orrin Harder. He is survived by his wife Carol Harder; his four sons Richard, Robert, Michael and Mitchell; and Carol's children Carrie, Jeffrey and Heather; as well as his nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was a truly great husband, father and friend and will be deeply missed by all.
