Passed away at home in Santa Rosa on May 1, 2013. He was surrounded by his wife of 48 years and his four children He was born on November 12, 1927 in Rhode Island to Leroy and Mary (Pratt) Brown. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children Susan Gonsalves and her husband Joe, Cynthia Deveau and her husband Rich, Patricia Kral, and Richard Alan Brown; four grandchildren, Drew, Dylan, Erika and Elise; brother Alan Jay Brown and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leroy, Sid and Bob. He enlisted in the military on July 24, 1945 and served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He later attended U.C. Davis where he received a degree in Agriculture. He proudly served for 27 years in law enforcement as a California Highway Patrol Officer. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, was an avid reader and took great joy in hiking with his dogs. He was actively involved in the community as a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church 10th and B streets, Santa Rosa. Private inurnment Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa.
