Richard Rainford Obituary

Age 51, Richard "Rick" James Rainford passed away at his home in Occidental. Survived by his beloved daughter Maranda Lee Rainford; proud and loving papa of Chevelle, Madison, Rylee, Samauel and Patrick. Maranda's mother Rochelle Collier. Siblings: John Rainford III, Sharon Murillo, Steven Rainford, Donna Palomares and Tommy Rainford. Also the Conte family, as well as his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends and co-workers; and of course, his dog Sassy. Predeceased by his father John Rainford Jr., his mother Beverly Miller, and his brother Donald Rainford. Rick's generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family and friends. Rick's humor, intelligence and enthusiasm for life were reflected in his many interests: first and foremost his daughter and grandchildren that he adored. He was a skilled craftsman and an extraordinary woodworker. He was an avid sports fan, studied world history, enjoyed reading biographies, and had an infectious sense of humor. He was a collector of many things. He loved living in and exploring the redwoods. He was always helping friends in need whether it was cooking a holiday meal for them or giving them help and hope. Rick was an incredible friend, and dedicated employee of White Cap since 1998. Rick's mischievous humor, and his devoted and constant caring are what will leave the biggest gaps. Everyone's life he has touched will miss him. Rick was a man who will forever be remembered for his kind spirit and open heart. Family and friends are invited to attend a "Celebration of Life" service Friday November 19th, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cotati Veterans Memorial Hall, 8505 Park Avenue, Cotati, CA 94931. I want to say how very sorry our family is at the loss of ricky. He was a great person as well as a great dad, papa, brother, friend and a wonderful cousin. I will greatly miss ricky as he always seems to just be there in distance. I hope you know that he is never truly gone, maybe from our vision but never from our hearts. I love you ricky and will miss you very much. To Miranda and the rainford family know I am here if you need me for anything. Our prayers are with you at this most devastating time. I got to work with Rick for about 5 years @ W/C. I always enjoyed our conversations, especially after I had my first baby girl. Papa Rick really showed up in those conversations, lol. To family and friends, you will be in our prayers. I know how dedicated Rick was to you all, 'cause you're all he'd usually talk about. I can only imagine how great your loss is.

I only knew Rick for about 6 months, but he was a great man that I will never forget. He also took Ryan Sullivan under his wing and I will be forever greatful because Ryan really looked up to him and if he turns into half the man Rick was he will be amazing. Thank you Rick we will never forget you or stop loving you. Rest in peace

Rick, I will miss the monthly visits when you stopped by my work just to say hi and update me on the kids as we shared our grandbabies pictures. I have known you and your family for almost 35 year. Wonderful years and memories. I will miss you and your hugs. You will always live in my heart.

I want to express our deep sorrow from our family to yours, for the great loss we have all incurred. I have known Rick for about 13 years, He was a great person, and always on the go. He was a very proud dad and granpa, every time I made contact with him, he always wipped out his wallet to show me the most recent photos of his granchildren and his newest addition. I will personally miss him and his beautiful soul tremendously. May god be with him and all of his family.
