Robert Tolar Obituary

Robert C. Tolar, long time resident of the Bodega Harbor community, died on November 21st at the age of 66. Bob is survived by his son and daughter, Bob and Debby and brother Bill. Mr. Tolar was a successful marketing consultant for many years following a long and successful career as a corporate executive. He was warm and generous and was a mentor for children and a supporter of the Boy Scouts. Earlier in life he was an athlete, an avid SCUBA diver and a competitive sailor, winning the title in college as the South East Heavy Weight Champion in wrestling. He served in the Marin Corps, reaching the rank of captain as an instructor for the amphibious raid school in Okinawa. In the last years of his life, a string of illnesses found him in and out of hospitalized care and he consequently moved to Chico three years ago to be near his children, who remained by his side through it all. A casual and joyous gathering will be held in Bob's name, on Sunday December 12th, from Noon to 4:00 pm at the "Blue Water Retreat" vacation home, located at 74 Surf Bird Court in Bodega Bay. We hope those that knew Bob well will come join us to celebrate his life.
