11/20/1923 - 11/22/2012 Passed away in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 89. A native of Detroit, Rose was an accomplished pianist. She met the love of her life, Gene Smithson while studying music at Wayne State University. Rose was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She and Gene married in 1944 before his deployment to Europe in WWII. During the next 64 years together they pursued careers and were devoted to raising their four children. Rose helped institute Gerber Baby Foods first business and research libraries in Fremont, Mich. She later worked for the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Library, and retired in 1984 after 11 years with the Fresno State University Library in California.
