Ruby Olson Obituary

After waiting 23 years, Ruby Olson will be dancing once again with her beloved husband, Tom, as she "left for the dance" Thursday, September 16, 2010. Ruby died at home Thursday from a fall that caused a brain bleed that took her life. Her passing came quickly and she suffered no stress or pain. Ruby's family was with her at the time of her death and held her as she gently "left for the dance" to be with her husband. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and her son, Mike. She is survived by her daughters, Dee Dickey and her husband Roy of Portland, Oregon; Patty Green and her husband Dave of Santa Rosa, CA; and Pamela Daly of Santa Rosa, CA, formerly of Phoenix, AZ. Ruby is also survived by her grandchildren: Tim (Maria) Weaver, Karen (David) Hanlon, Christopher (Heather) Olson, Angela Olson, Leslie (Ashton) Parado, Michael (Ashley) Olson, Eric and Jason Engleman, Kaitlyn Olson, Jessica Reyes, Shasta Jameson-Green, Mark Green, Clinton (Gina) Kirk and Matthew (Chrissy) Kirk; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends have described Ruby as "one of the sweetest people I've ever met" - and that is how we will all remember her! A Memorial Service will be held for her at the Eversole Mortuary, 141 Low Gap Road, Ukiah, on Sunday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor David Donnell officiating. Friends are invited to join us for the service and for a social afterward in the Todd Grove Park (Ukiah Municipal Park) at Live Oak & Cypress Streets in Ukiah. Maps will be available at the service. ARRANGEMENTS ARE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE EVERSOLE MORTUARY

What a dance that will be "on the other side". Ruby and Tom were dear square dance friends for many years. Such wonderful times we had together. I live in the park (Rancho del Rey) where Ruby lived when she moved to be with Patty. I lost track of her after that but never in my thoughts. I know we shall all meet again and light up the skies. Love to her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren - You lucky kids had a great Mom/Grandma. Love to all always Alice E. Eby-Bettini

Pam & Patty,
I am sorry for your loss. Your mother was a kind soul and I enjoyed the few times we were able to share a meal, a soap opera or even just a chat while I was over picking up candles. I am sure she will be the belle of the ball at the biggest dance of her life. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Pam, I am very sorry for your loss. Your Mom was wise and had us guys figured out a long time ago. I remembered the few jobs I did for her at the manufactured home park. She always made sure I ate good. I truely wish the best for your family at this time Doug Dick Manzanita, OR

Ruby, and Tom, were very good friends with my parents, Mabel and Richard Van Patten. I am certain that not only is Ruby dancing with Tom, Richard and Mabel are on the dance floor with them!
Her friends were correct, when they described Ruby as "one of the sweetest people they ever met".
My deepest sympathy goes to each and every one of her family
Sincerely, Marilyn Van Patten Forde, Sun Lakes, AZ.
