Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend and teacher, died peacefully at home on October 24, 2012. He graduated UC Berkeley where he met his wife, Shirley, of 58 years. He taught upper elementary grades for 32 years, nearly all of them at Dunbar School in Sonoma Valley. He is survived by his cherished three children: Jan Prater, Julie Searle and Ted White (Katie); also his dear younger brother T, and delightful grandchildren: Kyla, Nora, Gemma, Becket, Nathan and Eve. He is predeceased by his older brother Ron, and son-in-law Mike Searle. He was gentle, kind and generous, with a sense of humor that never failed him. He loved to read, take in the beauty of nature, sing out a favorite lyric and cheer on the 49ers. He was good to his family and cared about his fellow man. Donations in his memory may be made to the Sonoma County Food Bank.
