Pat and boys,
Please, accept my sincere sympathy in your recent loss of Walter.
You and Walt played an important part in the work ethic of my son Randy as he arose in the wee morning hours in the late seventies to head for the milking barn at your dairy on Copenhagen Road near Loleta. He was a senior at Fortuna H.S. with an urgent for new Blue Datsun Pickup...LOL!!!
He raised two fine sons with the same work ethic you helped instill in him. I am forever grateful!!!
May God comfort you in your loss of a great man, give you peace, and joy in your many fond memories. You are in my prayers, Sincerely,

Virginia Del Grande

Dear Pat and boyu, I am indeed very sorry to hear of Walt's passing. I just tried to call him up today. What did he die from?
Walt was one of the Loleta mentors in my life. He was also a very good encourager. When were hauling in hay to the barns I can still see his smile and hear his stories when time permitted. I remember when I got home from overseas and we talked further about the Army and other related subjects. He encouraged those of us who played various sports at FUHS also. His smile was better than Monolisa's. If he did not smile something was wrong as we learned to read him. It is like the others have said, he was a kind man with a big heart. He was always interested in our welfare. He, along with Louie Costa, were very happy to let me drink fresh cows milk after two years on refrabricated milk overseas. I know that he also answered the letters that I wrote him when I was overseas, to this day I greatly appreciate those letters to me. His sage advice was always welcomed.
At this time I especially remember the time that I took my wife and son to your house and I knocked on the door and he remembered me. He came out to the car and began to remininesce about my time in the hay. He told my family about how much I ate and even that some put bets on how much I could eat.
