William Dean Casebeer, Jr., age 66, passed away after a sudden illness on September 26, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Des Moines, Iowa and raised in San Francisco, where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended San Francisco City College, prior to enlisting in the US Navy. Bill was a proud veteran, serving aboard the USS Coral Sea during the Vietnam War. Most of Bill's professional career was spent in the building industry, starting as a general contractor in a family business and retiring as a senior building plans examiner for Sonoma County in 2009, following 20 years of service. Bill loved spending time with his family, especially his five grandsons. A talented artist, he passed his love of drawing on to his children and grandchildren. He was happiest when spending time with his grandsons, teaching them golf, playing baseball and other sports or just enjoying their company. In addition to his love of family, Bill was passionate about golf. He enjoyed the game and the camaraderie with his golf teammates and friends, winning a lot of trophies over the years and hitting several hole-in-ones. He was a long-time member of the Fountaingrove Golf and Athletic Club, Oakmont Men's Club and the Sonoma County Employees Golf League. Bill was also a member of Sons in Retirement (SIRs Branch #17) and the Masonic Lodge. Bill's family and friends will miss him forever but will always remember his great sense of humor, wonderful laugh and loving and supportive presence. Bill is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 33 years, Jan Casebeer, children Mark (Adrienne) Casebeer, Shelly (Robert) Hubenette, Derek (Erica) Casebeer, grandsons, Cole Casebeer, Spencer and Carson Hubenette and Devon and Trey Casebeer; brother Bob (Kris) Casebeer, nephew Brian (Janeen) Casebeer, niece Brianne Casebeer, father-in-law George Swaney and numerous family members in Iowa and Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his mother Marguerite in 2011 and his father William Sr. in 1981. A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Homes for Our Troops or other charitable organizations in support of US Armed Forces and their families.
