Margaret, 62, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and friends after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She spent her childhood in Ann Arbor, MI and Palo Alto, CA. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, she returned to the Bay Area, the place she loved most. She was the beloved wife of Myron E. Guilford and loving mother of Anne H. Guilford and James R. Guilford, who survive her. She was the caring stepmother of Elon D. Guilford and adored sister of David S. Rogers and Dana G. Rogers, who also survive her. She was the only daughter of Stephen J. Rogers and Sarah S. Rogers. Margaret loved nature and avidly volunteered for the Girl Scouts, Mariner Scouts, Sea Scouts and Boy Scouts as a youth and an adult. She earned many prestigious scout awards, including the Girl Scout Gold Award, and the William T. Hornaday Badge and the Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scouts. Many children in the Windsor Union School District appreciated her as a teacher, including her first graders at Mattie Washburn Elementary School. Margaret was a devoted Christian, and was an active member of Church of the Incarnation in Santa Rosa, where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and on the vestry. Her passion was singing, which she enjoyed in the church choir, or with her children, students or scouts accompanied by her guitar. She found joy in creativity, especially cooking, gardening and art. All who knew Margaret immediately recognized her deep love, faith and wisdom which fueled her incredible strength and her desire to care for all things created by God. She was a beautiful soul who nurtured her family, friends and community.
