Richard 'Dick' Koehler, age 94, passed away on April 29, 2012. Raised in central Illinois, the son of Louis and Marie Koehler, he was a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Education. Dick was at Great Lakes Naval Base when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He served as a Lt. j.g. in the South Pacific until 1945. His wife of 67 years, Bette, survives him as well as daughter, Judith of Petaluma and son, Jeffrey of Wilbraham, MA. After the war, Dick was a corporate sales/marketing manager for Westinghouse Airbrake Co. and for Atlas Copco. His position moved the family from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania, back to Wisconsin then on to Ohio and Longmeadow, MA. The last years in Mass. he was an adjutant professor at Western New England University in Springfield. Upon retirement Dick and Bette moved to Rohnert Park, CA and enjoyed playing golf and bridge and attending the Santa Rosa Symphony. As a board member of the Symphony he served as head of many committees and as its treasurer. He was a member of Foxtail Golf Club and SIRS. Dick and Bette were inveterate travelers, visiting all 50 states - the many provinces of Canada, Mexico, as well as most of Europe, North Africa, northern South America, Australia, New Zealand and especially cruising the Caribbean Islands. The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Glenda Howell, as well as Petaluma Hospice and the staff at Adobe House. As per his wish, services will be private.
