Passed away in Petaluma, CA. on May 25, 2012. Devoted husband for 69 years of Della Woldemar. Loving father of Michael (Barbara) Woldemar of Richmond and Cindy (Jim) McCarter of Petaluma. Cherished Grandfather of Michelle Carr, Christopher Woldemar, Sarah Tama, Karen Van Winkle, Erika Goodman and Brendan McCarter. Great Grandfather of 13. Brother of the late Holger Woldemar. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest was born in Petaluma on June 21, 1921 to Danish immigrants, Nis and Meta Woldemar. He was raised on the family dairy and attended Liberty School, Penngrove School and graduated from Petaluma High School in 1940. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 aboard the USS LST 19 in the Pacific, participating in several campaigns, including Tinian, Saipan, Tarawa and Pelilou. Although he spent most of his working years as a mechanic and truck driver, he also enjoyed and excelled in many hobbies, such as gardening, wood working, farming and restoring foreign cars. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Ernest passed away peacefully at the age of 90, with his dear and loving friends at Creekside Cottage and family at his side. Private services will be held with private inurnment at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma. PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY
