O'BRIEN, John Conlan D.V.M. Passed away at home July 26, 2012. Born in San Francisco on May 11, 1924. Jack proudly served in the Navy during World War II after which he attended the University of California Davis, graduating as a member of the first veterinary class in 1952. He opened a veterinary hospital in Sebastopol after graduation. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Charlotte Barlow O'Brien in 2002. Jack is survived by his daughter Kathleen and her husband Bill, and his longtime housekeeper and friend, Trisha Burns. Also survived by nieces Sharon O'Brien Kelly, her husband Michael, and Robin O'Brien Holmes, and husband David. Also survived by nieces Gayle Howard and Alyssa Barlow and their mother Donna Barlow. Dr. O'Brien served on the Sebastopol City Council, the Sebastopol Volunteer Fire Department, and was past President of Rotary. As a hobby, Jack was an avid lover and student of Bonsai and a member of Redwood Empire Bonsai Society. Always an animal lover, he was loved by many friends for his loyalty, kindness and wry sense of humor. Many thanks to everyone who has always been there for Jack and his family.
