Bayfield, CO resident Brian Harvey Koehn died suddenly of a heart attack August 17, 2012, in Marina, CA, at age 63. Born to Harvey and Elizabeth (Serio) Koehn on June 19, 1949, in Palo Alto, he graduated from Analy High School in 1967, and attended Santa Rosa Junior College, studying electronics. He worked at Hewlett-Packard for 18 years. In 1970, he married Lois Hewitt in Santa Rosa. They had a daughter, Sheri Louise, and later divorced. Mr. Koehn volunteered as a Junior Achievement advisor and phone counselor for a family-crisis hotline. His hobbies included motorcycle riding, hang gliding and working on his 1972 Datsun 510 sedan. He learned to fly ultralight aircraft at Liberty Field in Petaluma, and built his own plane. On September 29, 1984, he married Mary Margaret MacBain in Sebastopol. They hosted high school exchange students through the Youth For Understanding program for several years, until they moved to Bayfield, CO in 1993. In Colarado, Mr. Koehn was self-employed at Technical Solutions, a home-based electronic repair and design business, and as life coach and mediator at Beyond Limits Coaching. He taught adult-education computer classes. Mr. Koehn was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheri Louise Mandler, and grandson, Levi Mandler, in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Mary Koehn, of Bayfield, CO; brother, David Koehn, of Oakland; sister, Rhoda Watson, of Pleasant Hill; and numerous extended family members. Cremation has occurred. There will be a celebration of life for family and friends at a later date.
