Age 85, died on September 17, 2012. A memorial service will be held on September 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Mortuary, Windsor. Thelma (Tillie) Oleda Boyd was born on January 26, 1927 to Lars and Sigrid (Alsager) Boyd in Rolfe, IA. Tillie married Byron Hubbell in 1943 and had seven children. They lived and farmed outside Plover, IA. After Byron died in 1979, Tillie moved to Los Angeles. She worked for Howard Johnson for nine years and moved to Windsor in 1988, where she is most fondly remembered as the "Welcome Wagon Lady". Tillie loved life and made everyone around her feel welcome. She will always be remembered for her joyfulness, her zest for life, her laughter and her big, kind heart. Grateful for having shared her life are children: Rebecca, Gloria, Howard (Elizabeth) of Brandon, SD, Jon (Linda) of Overland Park, KS, Gordon of Vacaville, and Roger (Nina) of Vacaville; grandchildren: Sigrid Hubbell (Justen Reed), Sarra (Kevin) Hobbs, Susan (Matthew) Ryan, Tim Tollefson, Matthew, Roberto, Alex, Nyssa and Chris Hubbell; three great grandchildren: Addison, Mackenzie and Courtney Hobbs; sister Ardith Cushing of Iowa City, IA; sister-in-laws: Carmen Hubbell of Plover, IA, Mae Hubbell of River Falls, WI, Edra Hubbell of Curlew, IA, Doreen Boyd of San Bernardino, and Mary Boyd Steffens of Eagle Grove, IA; and her four-legged companion, Tica. Tillie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Dennis, six brothers and sisters.
