The Guest Book is expired.

My wife of 55 years and best buddy Joan "Joni" Reed went to our Lord on August 29, 2012. Her passing was sudden and without pain, with her family by her side. Joni was born in Santa Rosa on October 12, 1938, she lived and went to school in Healdsburg until her family moved to Santa Rosa where she graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1956. I met Joni in January 1957 and we were married six months later. She enjoyed being a housewife and mother of two boys and a daughter until 1975 when she had an opportunity to work for the Sonoma County Jury Commissioner and subsequently promoted to Jury Commissioner. She retired after 25 years of service. I had retired prior to her, and she enjoyed traveling across the country many times in our RV and cruising with KZST. She most enjoyed camping with our children and grandchildren for many years at Hat Creek where she found peace and relaxation at our favorite fishing spot where she sat and read her books. Joni is survived by her husband Bill, three children, eight grandsons, six great grandchildren, her sister and cousins, her God son and many many friends. She gave her family and friends her life, time, talent, and treasure. We will miss her quick smile, sense of humor, sage advise and all her love. I read a quote from President A. Lincoln - "Live a good life and in the end it's not the years in a life but it's the life in the years." It seems he wrote that just for Joni, she lived her life fully in her years. For those who are grieving, Joni would have these words from the poem Safely Home: "I am in Heaven, dear ones oh so happy and so bright, there is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed. I am now at peace forever safely home in Heaven at last." Joni loved to have a "get together" with family and friends. A get together is planned on October 27 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Brookwood Mobile Home Park Club House, 7000 Monticeto Blvd, across from Maria Carillo High School. Please stop by, meet old friends and tell stories about Joni. Refreshments will be served. Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen & Lance Chapel 545-3747.
