Passed away Sunday, July 22,2012, at age 84, at his home in Rio Rancho, NM after a brief illness. Born on March 10, 1928, in Sebastopol to Arthur and Caroline Reyes; their eldest son, he grew up in Willits and graduated from Willits High School with honors. He attended San Jose State University majoring in Music. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and received three medals. He lived in Willits, Ukiah, and Santa Rosa where he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He was a gifted musician, composer and the leader of a popular jazz band that played for local events in the 60's. As a member of the Adventist Church, he directed and arranged choir music for Sabbath Services and sang with the choir. He is survived by a daughter, Julie Medeiros, sons: Chris Reyes and Greg Blackard, 11 grandchildren, four great granddaughters. Also survived by sisters: Ardis Walker of Willits and Iris Rogers of Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Reyes; son, "Duffy" Powers; daughter, Carmen Sidoti; his parents and three brothers: Milton, Darrell and Lanny. At his request there will be a private interment.
