Dr. Anne Lebowitz, age 98, passed away at her home in Santa Rosa on January 24, 2013. She was born in Paris, France on July 5, 1914, a daughter of Morris and Ethel (Silver) Platkowitz. On November 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to Isadore Lebowitz. Anne is survived by a daughter, Nancy Lebowitz Justice; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, and a son, Martin Phillip Lebowitz in 1992. Anne was a lifelong learner, and was lucky to have a husband who supported her return to school in 1945 to earn her PhD. in Clinical Psychology at Adelphi University. They moved to Los Angeles in 1955, where Anne taught at USC, and then became the director of L.A. County General's children's ward in the early 1960's. They then moved to San Miguel de Allende where Anne taught graduate courses and Isadore became a sculptor. Upon their return to California in 1977, Anne opened her private practice in Petaluma. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Congregation Shomrei Torah, 2600 Bennett Valley Rd. Burial will follow at Sebastopol Memorial Lawn.
