Deidre Brillhart died Sunday, January 27, after a struggle with complications related to Parkinson's Disease. Deidre is survived by Paul Zarn, her long time boyfriend, in Petaluma, her long time friend, Margaret Newell, and her mother, Maureen Coombes of the United Kingdom. Deidre was a long time volunteer for the Humane Society, Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County, the Petaluma Animal Shelter and Friend of the Library of Petaluma. Deidre lived with Paul Zarn in Petaluma for the past 20+ years and was in Southern California before that. Deidre came to the U.S. to Chicago in 1968 at the age of 18 with a friend from college with whom she maintained a long friendship. That dear friend is Margaret Newell. Deidre was born in the UK in 1949, an only child of Maureen Coombes and Reginald Hewings (deceased). She died as she lived, her way. Donations requested in lieu of flowers to the Petaluma Animal Services. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. at 3835 Cypress Dr., Petaluma.
