Harold passed away quietly at home, after a short illness. The love given to Harold was long and strong, while the suffering was mercifully short. Harold lived in Walnut Creek, California and taught math there for 44 years until retirement and then moved to Santa Rosa. Music, learning, travel, athletics, and fun were sources of joy in his life. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois Baker. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Gene; and his children, Margi Vonk, Doug Oxsen, and Carolyn Oxsen; and his adopted children, Beth Schmidt and Tsion Alemayehu. He has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Harold is scheduled for Saturday, February 15 1 P.M., at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Rosa, 1550 Pacific Ave., Music and Veterans needs were dear to Harold, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Rosa, 1550 Pacific Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95404, or Canine Companions for Indepen-dence, 2965 Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95407, since many of their dogs are placed with wounded Veterans.
