On March 31, the world got a little darker when a truly gifted woman and nurse, Laura Clopton, passed away peace-fully in her sleep. She was only 49, much too young. Becoming a nurse was her life long passion, plying her trade by caring for her dying mother right up to the end, a year before graduating from nursing school. Nursing school taught her the clinical skills, but the intense empathy she had for others was simply her nature. That can't be taught. Formerly Laura Kent, she is survived by brothers Joe, Larry, Steve, Paul, Brian and Mark Kent; sisters Jane Braun and Libby Hoy; daughter of the late Peter and Lydia Kent; daughter in law to Patricia Drucquer and Robert Clopton. Loving wife of 19 years to Bill Clopton and as she liked to say, "Rent-A-Mom" to Matthew Clopton and the late Brandon Clopton. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 11, 1 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa.
