With his family at his bedside, Bill passed away peacefully at home after a brief fight with cancer. Memories of him bring smiles and good feelings to all who knew him. His wit and dry humor were no match for friends and family. Bill never met a stranger. He was born in San Francisco and graduated from Poly High. Bill served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 104 for 55 years. After retiring, he and his wife June moved permanently to Guerneville where he worked part-time as a bartender at the favorite watering hole, Buck's Ranch, which led him to meet and make friends with many. He was past president of the Russian River Rodeo Association and he and his wife were members for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion. Bill leaves behind the love of his life of 49 years, June and is known as "Dad" to Bill Brugger, Jr., Susan Loper, Denis Merz, Pam Talavera, Bob and Montene Merz; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Per Bill's request, there will be no service.
