Born on January 13, 1922 in Revigliasco D'Asti, Piemonte, Italy. Passed away on August 22, 2010 in Santa Rosa at the age of 88. Loving spouse of Marie Canale and the late Barbara Jean Canale. Beloved father of Mark Canale, Dominic Michael Canale (Ruth Colianni), Mary Canale (Max Magen), Joseph Canale (Tam), Tim Canale (Andrea), Teresa Canale, Philip Canale, and the late John Canale. Adored grandfather of four. Cherished brother of Nora Eddinger (Larry). Preceded by his parents, John and Margherita Canale. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins both in the U.S. and Italy. Dominic was a proud Army veteran who served his country in World War II in the 534th AAA (AW) Battalion, "D" Battery transporting cannons. He was a renaissance man and was among other things a salesman, a grape rancher, a chef and winemaker, an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and an opera singer who graduated from the Conservatory of Music of La Scala, Milan, Italy. He was a member of American Legion Post 111 of Healdsburg, and the Italian Catholic Federation, Branch 18, St. Rose. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish (303 Stony Point Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95401). LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL (4321 Sonoma Hwy., Santa Rosa, CA 95409) will provide visitation hours from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010, where at 7:00 p.m. a Vigil Service will commence in the main chapel.
