"WhereThere's A Willie There's A Way" AVILLA, William "Bill" "Willie" Passed away at his home in Santa Rosa on February 3, 2011. He was the dearly beloved husband of Virginia (Welchon) Avilla of Santa Rosa, celebrating their 60th anniversary on June 30. He was the loving father of Catherine Witman and her husband Bill, of Morgantown, PA; Cindy McClure and her husband Shane, of Vista, CA; Patricia Hembree and her husband Craig, of Windsor, CA; Eileen White and her husband Gary, of Healdsburg, CA; and Marian Hamann and her husband Joel, of Santa Rosa, CA. He was also the adored grandfather of Monica, Billy, Jennifer, Sean, Briana, Daryl, Anthony, Cody, Gary Jr., Jeremy, Alicia, Kristina, Joshua and Grace and the great grandfather of fourteen. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Avilla, his sisters Edna Borges and Janet Ynostroza (Andy); godchildren Linda Gibson (Jim) and Robert Borges (Laura); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his sister Lorraine Silva and her husband Bert; his sister-in-law Dorothy Avilla, niece Colleen Avilla and grandchildren Jessica, Timothy and Michael. Bill was a Machinist Welder and inventor for Reitz Manufacturing Co., Inc. which later became Bepex Corporation working for them for 15 years in West Chester, PA, and the rest of his 45 years in Santa Rosa and San Francisco, Ca. Bill was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church, The Native Sons Nicasio Parlor #183 and Cordelia Duck Club (California). He played in the Adult Slow Pitch softball league in West Chester PA and was a life time Girl Scout Leader for the Freedom Valley Girl Scout Council in PA. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was known to many as Mr. Fix it and Tidy Tillie. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St Eugene's Cathedral, 2323 Montgomery Dr, Santa Rosa, interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa. If desired donations in his memory may be made to Ducks Unlimited, 1 Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120 or to the charity of your choice.
