Fred R. Wasson, 93, passed away peacefully on January 2, at his home in the Alexander Valley (AV) with his wife of 71 years, Ruby, by his side. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Osborn Wasson, his daughters, Marcia Teuschler (Ray Higbee) of Hopland, Kathleen Fiero (Don) of Santa Fe, NM, Beverly Wasson (Jenn Stephens) of Rio Nido and Reta Munselle (Bill) of Geyserville, along with six grandchildren: David Teuschler (Roe) of Porter Ranch, Mark Teuschler (Suzy) of Healdsburg, Tracy McCall (James) of Geyserville, Bret Munselle (Kristen) of Geyserville, Cort Munselle (Mia) of Cloverdale, Lance Munselle (Amy) of Anacortes, WA, ten great grandchildren and his brother, Phil Wasson (Geneva) of Boonville. Fred was born November 19, 1918, in Alexander Valley and lived his entire life there. He graduated Healdsburg High School in 1936 and married the love of his life, Ruby M. Osborn, in 1940. Together they raised four daughters. Fred farmed a range of crops over the course of his lifetime in the Alexander Valley. He was also deeply involved in the community and served on the AV Elementary School Board, AV Farm Bureau and the AV Hall Board. Fred enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved his family, farming and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and a good card game. A Celebration of his Life will take place on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alexander Valley Community Hall, 5512 Hwy. 128, Geyserville.
