Born on May 20, 1930 in Oxnard, CA, passed away in Woodland, CA on October 23, 2012. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George, her twin brother, James, who died in the Korean War, and her parents, Gertrude Henrietta (Clark) and Lloyd James McGraw. She is survived by her daughters Janis Lasky Couvreux (Michel), Marta Bradley, and her son, James (Roberta) Lasky. Also surviving are her grandchildren Sean (Christin) Couvreux, Brendan (Chloe) Couvreux, Robert Bradley and Paige Bradley, and great-grandchildren Claire, Matthew, Sky and Tao Couvreux. Her ancestors have been traced back to the 1700s in Danby, NY and Fairfield, CT. Shirley graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Los Angeles in 1948, and was married to her husband George on April 17, 1953 at the Santa Barbara Mission. They were very happily married for 52 years. She was employed by Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Newport Beach, CA for a number of years. Shirley lived with her family in California most of her life-ranging from Northridge, to Orange County, and Saratoga near San Jose-except for a short period in Alaska during the 1970s. She enjoyed retirement in Bodega Bay, then later in Petaluma and Davis. Shirley loved to travel, entertain, play bridge, knit and read, and will be remembered for her keen sense of humor and her loving disposition. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. No formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Hospice of Petaluma or Yolo County Hospice.
