76, of Bishop, CA, passed away April 5th 2014. He was born to the late Garrett and Florence Spoor on November 18, 1937, in Bishop, Ca. He graduated from Bishop High School in 1955 and joined the US Navy. During his time in the service he married Darlene Clement (also of Bishop) on November 10, 1957 and they began their family. They spent the next 25 years in Bishop running the family business (Spoor's Sheet Metal) and raising their three children. They worked hard to support their family and instill a "work ethic" in their kids. They were also steadfast members of their community and church. Gordon served as a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver, a sound technician at his church and donated countless hours and materials to many church projects through the years. He also traveled to abroad building churches and shelters for the poor. Away from work time was spent with their family camping, fishing or traveling to support their son's motorcycle racing. Many times Gordon would finish work and then drive the motor home through the night to a race sight as his family slept. After their children were raised they sold their business and moved to Santa Rosa, CA where he went to work for the R.E. Corporation. Over the years, they made many great friends and Gordon tuned his cherished role as "Grandpa". He always enjoyed photography and now he had the time to spend taking pictures and creating collages and video displays mostly of his favorite subject, his family. Gordon retained his passion for God, his family and his work until the end. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Darlene, and three children: Cheryl Ytreeide (David), Jeff Spoor (Nikki), and Laura Horrisberger (Scott). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The immediate family would like to thank the friends, extended family, and his employer for their loving support during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the "Gordon Spoor Memorial Fund" on youcare.com. A memorial service will be held on April 14th at 11 am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Santa Rosa, CA. Burial will be held on April 16th at East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop, CA.
