WALTZ, ALMA VANGILDER PATTERSON - born in Philadelphia July 15th 1930, went to the Lord on Friday November 23rd 2012. She spent her childhood in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Washington, DC and New Jersey but it was Ocean View, New Jersey she always called home. In 1947 she graduated the Friends Select School in Philadelphia and then attended Ursinus College. It was at St. Peters Church, in Philadelphia, where at the tender age of about 7 she met the man of her dreams and 11 years later married him in 1948. They had three children 2 boys and a girl. Alma was a member of the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, the Republican Women of Pennsylvania, the Historical and Genealogical Society of Cape May County and active in the William Penn Charter PTA as well as an English/History tutor to her children; her husband handled the math. After the children went on their own life journeys Alma joined the ranks of the employed as a Real Estate Agent. She most enjoyed working with fortune 500 relocation clients introducing them to the Philadelphia and South Jersey Region. After retiring she became a volunteer with the Cape May County Volunteer Blood Transport Team for the American Red Cross. She cared about her community and environment, helping to keep the family estate of 168 acres farmed and open space as it had been for over 330 years. She passed peacefully at home overlooking the south lawn as the sun came up. Many thanks to all those who prayed for minimal pain and suffering, PRAYERS DO WORK! She is survived by her husband of 64 years and best friend James Hawbecker Waltz and their children James Patterson Waltz (Irene Newman), Arthur Thomas Waltz (Donna Voorhees-Waltz) and Alma VanGilder Waltz George (John R. George) Her Funeral Service will be held Friday November 30th at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ where the viewing will be from 9 to 10 o'clock with the service beginning at 10 o'clock.
