ZITO, ELEANOR SHIEL 86 - of Wynnewood, PA. November 15, 1926 - December 26, 2012 died Wednesday at Bryn Mawr Terraces in Bryn Mawr, PA of complications arising from pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Joseph Zito, Sr., an M.I.T. and Harvard graduate, her four children, Stephen Robert Zito, Laura Jean Zito, David Shiel Zito, and Arthur Joseph Zito, Jr., her three grandchildren, James, William and Melanie, and five sisters, Joan, Claire, Dorothy, Mary Lou and Peggy. Eleanor was a celebrated poet, short story writer, newspaper journalist
and much-beloved blithe spirit by all who knew her well. She taught and awed with her deep literary insights many a young mind at St. Maria Goretti High School in Philadelphia. Her great creativity was apparent in her every employ, from her days in the fifties in advertising in NYC, to Eastern College to her attainment of a Masters in Education at Bryn Mawr College. She was a devoted wife of 64 years and generous mother. Her clever Irish wit was apparent at each turn of phrase. Hailing originally from Brookline, Mass., where she graduated from Regis College, she was the navigator who wouldn't be knocked off her post and greatly enjoyed traveling the world's hot-spots in a most independent way. Those who had the luck to bask in her charms, sparkling blue eyes and the innocence of her smile will always remember her unique personality. Her favorite words: peace, love, joy. There is a Memorial Mass on Monday December 31st, 2012 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Stone Harbor, New Jersey at 11:00 AM with a viewing at 10:00 AM.
