THERESA "SIS" BONITT

BONITT, THERESA "SIS" - of Sea Isle City, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Ocean View Center, Ocean View. Sis was a longtime resident of Sea Isle City. She was a graduate of Sea Isle City Public School and Ocean City High School. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the Sea Isle City Historical Society and was active in many community organizations, including the Women's Civic Club, the Shoemaker Holly and Magnolia Questers Club, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the AARP. She was recognized for her service to the community by the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce as recipient of the Sweetheart Award in 1995 and as the Irishwoman of the Year in 2000. She was an avid card player and wrote many newsletters for the Sea Isle City Historical Society. Sis is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Leonard Bonitt and her three children, Sandy Bonitt of Cheltenham, PA, Leonard Bonitt of Ocean View and John Bonitt of Somers Point. Also surviving are her grandchildren Evan and Caroline Shatz, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends too numerous to mention. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from St. Joseph's R. C. Church, 43rd Street at Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City, NJ where friends may call from nine o'clock until 10:45 in the morning. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Ocean View, NJ.
