ROBERT EDWARD "BOB" BURNS

BURNS, ROBERT EDWARD "BOB" 73 - of Longport, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born on March 24, 1940 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to the late Leo and Dorothy (McNelly) Burns. He attended Monsignor Bonner High School. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served in Special Forces. In 1964, Bob began his career as an electricial contractor and started his own construction business. In 1992, he and his brother Gary launched RGB Associates, Inc. in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Bob enjoyed many activities including boating and fishing. He was a member of the Ocean City Marlin & Tuna Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Stanzione Burns, his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Patricia Burns, and his son, Robert E. Burns, Jr; three step-children: Steven, Stacy and Andrea Adams; five grandchildren: Kirsten, Brittany and Tommy Kelly, and Shannen and MacGreggor Adams; and two nephews: Kevin and Steven Burns. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Leo Burns and daughter, Dorothy Burns Kelly. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 13, at the Parish of St. Maximilian Kolbe, Church of the Resurrection in Marmora, 200 Tuckahoe Road at 10 am. Family and friends may call at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to the Abramson Cancer Center, attention Evelyn Schwatrz, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
