BASILE, BARBARA A. 83 - of Atlantic City, died peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born in Leominster, Mass. She came to Atlantic City in 1950, when she was 21 years old, along with her two best friends, Doris and Yolanda, when women didn't do that sort of thing. But she brought with her that fabulous Boston Accent â€" and it never faded! Barbara worked as a waitress on the boardwalk at a place called Pete's Luncheonette where she fell in love and married the boss. They lived for a while on Blake Street, in ducktown with Pete's father, Natale, until their home was built on Montpelier Avenue. They lived in the new home for more than 30 years â€"Pete died in 1996. Barbara was a very private person, immersing herself in her family and being a housewife. She loved her husband dearly and took care of him while he suffered from a lengthy illness with diabetes. She was definitely outspoken â€" she told you exactly what she thought â€"she never held back. Barbara was proud of her Irish heritage although she was half Italian. She never had sick a day in her life and maintained her independence as long as she could, including hanging curtains in her house, on a chair, a month before she died. Although she always said she wished she had a son, she adored her daughters, Patty and Linda Basile who were so fortunate and grateful to have their mother for so long on this earth. Besides her two daughters, Patty and Linda Basile, Barbara leaves behind, her loving sisters; Gloria, Shirley and Renee; brother Ritchie; over 30 nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; her beloved brother-in-law Dominic Capone of Florida, and her dear neighbors and best friend Joseph Danley. A Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated for Barbara A. Basile Wednesday, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. And she was buried with her Pete - in the Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, privately, as she had lived her life with her family. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home LLC, AC.
