GAVIN, FRANCIS X. "FRANK 82 - of Smithville, formerly of Narberth, PA passed away in the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center on April 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving wife and sons. Frank was born in Philadelphia, graduated from the St. Thomas Moore High School; St. Joseph's College and received his MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He proudly served in the US Air Force as an Airman First Class and instructor from 1952 to 1956. Frank spent much of his career in sales for Addressograph Multigraph but also taught Hospitality Management, Meeting and Convention Planning at St Joseph's University in Philadelphia and at Harcum College. He also worked for the Police and Fire Medical Association in Northeast Philadelphia. Frank was a true Irishman, with a ready wit and many a story to tell. He loved people and made a new friend wherever he went. His real avocation and love was in travel and hospitality planning, especially related to the various Disney properties and cruise ships. He was a Certified Disney Specialist and managed to visit the parks or take the cruises at least once a year. He also loved raising orchids and painting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Gavin; his brother Michael (Mickey) Gavin and his first wife, Margaret (Peg) McGovern Gavin . Frank is survived by his beloved wife Joan ( Meyers) and six children, Francis (Cathie,) James (Ruth), John, Margaret Mary Adams, Tricia Faust and Rosemary Wilson (Kevin). He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Frankie, Timmy, Kristin, Meghan, Molly and Meredith Gavin, Sarah Faust, Aidan and Reagan Wilson, and Rick and John Adams. In addition, Frank is loved and will be fondly remembered by his in-laws and nieces and nephews in the Meyers family. His family would like to thank the nursing, respiratory and physician staff in the PCU, CVU at the Mainland Division and the ICU unit at the ARMC, City division. They gave such exceptional care and caring to Frank and also to his family. Their compassion and skill made a very difficult two weeks, bearable. Visitation will be Monday, April 29 from 6 to 8 PM and 9 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday , April 30 at Wimberg Funeral Home 211 E. Great Creek Rd, Galloway, NJ (609) 641-0001. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 30 at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton 591 New Jersey Ave, Absecon, NJ. Burial will be Friday, May 3 in Westernport, MD.
