MAYBERRY, JOAN M. 72 - of Ventnor, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, with family & friends by her side. Born in Trenton on April 20, 1941, Joan was the daughter of the late Margarita and J. Barclay Mayberry, and the younger sister of the late John Mayberry. Joan was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, and received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Trenton State College. She later attended Georgian Court College in Lakewood to pursue Administration Studies. A firm believer in providing children with a good education, Joan proudly worked as an Elementary School Teacher for 25 years in the Tom's River school system; and, even after her retirement, continued to be involved in the field of education. Joan took special interest in her neighborhood and the people in it by assisting them with weekly errands and providing comfort and encouragement when needed. Joan treasured her bay front view, and took great delight in feeding the ducks, watching the sunsets, and providing the cascade of boaters with updated weather reports and current events. Left to cherish Joan's memory are her sister-in-laws, Edith "Sweets" Mayberry and Diane Mayberry (John DuBois); her nieces, Linda Perlis (Joseph), Susan Stevenson (Thomas), Cheryl Ferraioli (Alfred), and Cindy Reardon (Doug); her nephew, Jonathan Mayberry; and several great-nieces and nephews. Joan's caring spirit will be missed by many friends and neighbors; and her adoring feline companion and housemate, Romeo, will assuredly miss her kind touch, as well. She will be deeply missed by her loving friend Jean Antolini who's long time friendship with Joan allowed them both to know the richness of unconditional love. Memorial donations may be made to The First Church of Christian Scientist, located at 3901 Filbert Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, or to
