FALZETTA, JOHN NICHOLAS 86 - of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 24, 1927 in Atlantic City, NJ he lived in Atlantic City, Somers Point, Bargaintown, Ocean City, and Little Egg Harbor before moving to Manahawkin. He was a graduate of: Atlantic City High School, Class of 1944; LaSalle College with a bachelor's degree in economics; Niagara University with a master's degree in social sciences; and Temple University with a doctorate degree in education. John began his long career as an educator in 1952 teaching 5th grade at Indiana Ave. School in Atlantic City, then 7th & 8th grade at Central Junior High in Atlantic City until 1956, when he went on to become Principal and then Superintendent in Brooklawn, NJ until 1958. He was the Assistant Superintendent at Williamstown High School, Williamstown, NJ until 1959. At Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing, NJ he was Assistant Superintendent until 1963 and Superintendent until 1969. From 1969 to 1988 John was a Professor of Education at Glassboro State College, Glassboro, NJ and also established Falzetta Associates, an educational consulting firm. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. The highlight of his Naval career was processing the discharge papers for St. Louis Cardinal Stan Musial (giving him ten extra days of leave)!
Survivors include his three children: Gregory Falzetta, Andrea Pierce, Elisa Falzetta, son-in-law James Pierce, daughter-in-law Garnett Losak; seven grandchildren: Tara Phillips, Melissa Mata, Heather Trevino, Brandon Pierce, Meghan Knoedler, Katherine Falzetta and Joseph Falzetta; one great-grandson: Brian Phillips and one great-grandson due in November; brother Fiorello Falzetta and sister-in-law Louan Falzetta, sister Gloria McGlynn and brother-in-law James McGlynn, nephews Matthew McGlynn and Michael Daniels, niece Christy Wimberg and former spouse Rose Falzetta. He is also survived by his adored Boxer, Bella, who brightened every day that she spent with him. John was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian Falzetta, and his parents Elvira and Joseph Falzetta.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, September 17th at 9:30AM to 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
