SHEWLAKOW, STANLEY J. 71 - of Millville, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2013. Born in the Ukraine, Stan immigrated to the United States at the age of eight. A Millville resident for most of his life, he graduated from Millville High School in 1960 and Southwest Missouri State University in 1965. Stan worked for Wheaton Industries for 37 years and most recently retired from Griffin Medical Products in 2011. He married Anna May Jerrell, his high school sweetheart, in 1965 and enjoyed 39 years together until she passed away in 2005. Stan was Chairman of the Millville Planning Board for almost 30 years and was recently appointed to the Cumberland County Planning Board. He was a Millville Republican committee person and a member of Millville Kiwanis Club and Greenwich Tea Party. Stan was a Unit Commissioner for the Boy Scouts, treasurer for the Gideon International Millville/Vineland chapter and on the advisory board for the Salvation Army. He dedicated many years of service to Royal Rangers as the NJ Southern Section Commander and served as Senior Commander of Outpost 8. He attended First United Methodist Church and First Assembly of God, both in Millville. Stan is survived by: daughter, Rebecca Henry and her husband Wayne; son, Steven Shewlakow; grandson, Alexander Booth; close and special friend, Pauline M. Smith; brothers, George Schewlakow, Daniel Schewlakow and wife Florence. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stan was predeceased by his brother, Andrew Schewlakow and sister, Linda Schewlakow. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Stan's life at 10:30 am Thursday at First Assembly of God, 1700 Wheaton Avenue, Millville. There will be a viewing Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 pm and Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 am also at First Assembly of God. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Millville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 733 E. Chestnut Ave, Vineland, NJ 08360 and Gideon International, P.O. Box 801, Millville, NJ 08332. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Barr Funeral Home, Millville.
