CAMPANELLA, THOMAS A. SR. 84 - of Northfield, passed away December 4, 2012. Mr. Campanella was born in Atlantic City to Anthony and Lillian (nee Hartley) on July 3, 1928. He attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Grammar School and was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, Class of 1947. After high school, Mr. Campanella joined the U.S. Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Mr. Campanella joined the ranks of the New Jersey State Police #1085, as a member of the 41st Academy Class, from 1952 to 1957. Upon leaving the State Police, he worked for and retired from the South Jersey Gas Company, after 20 years. He spent his retirement golfing and gardening. Mr. Campbell is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Annette (nee Sunderland), and his daughter Michele. He is survived by his children; Mary Pat (Bryson Sr.), Terri and her friend Joe Rich, Annette (Barry Sr.), Anthony (Penny), Thomas Jr., Patricia (James Sr.), and John (Nicole). He is also survived by his 18 Grand-children and 17 Great-Grand-children as well as numerous extended family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Thomas A. Campanella 12:00 noon Monday, December 10, 2012, at St. Gianna Parish- St. Bernadette Church, 1421 New Road, Northfield, NJ. Relatives and friends may call at the Church for his viewing from 10:00am until the Mass. The Rite of Committal and Military Honors will be offered at Green-wood Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Pleasantville, NJ, following Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Holy Redeemer Health System, Development Department, 521 Moredon Road, Huntington Valley, PA., 19006.
