MOGAN, EDWARD M. 89 - of Absecon passed away peacefully at home on Friday October 12, 2012. He was born in Philadelphia, PA. Ed moved to Atlantic City at a very young age and attended local schools. Ed was a proud veteran of World War II, he served under Gen. George Patton in the 4th Armored Div. in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, a Bronze Star, 2 Purple Hearts, and the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal. Ed married Marie McLaughlin on April 3, 1948. They enjoyed 59 happy years of marriage until her passing in May 2007. Ed retired from the Atlantic City Electric Company after 38 years. He was a founding member of the Atlantic County football league and coached boys and girls programs for the Venice Park Youth Organization. Ed was a Cub Scout master at St. Nicholas school in Atlantic City and Director of the CYO athletic program for the school. Ed belonged to the American Legion Post 28 and Veterans of Foreign Wars and was chosen as "The Man of the Year"- 2004. Mr. Mogan was an active member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish serving as an usher and a member of the Comfort Ministry. Ed is survived by his daughter Kathie Carlsen and her husband Warren, his daughter Terry Hennessy and her husband Joe all of Galloway Twp.; His son David Mogan and his wife Sue of Minnetonka, MN. Also surviving are four grandchildren Lisa Carlsen, Matthew, Gabrielle and Shane Mogan. He is predeceased by his wife Marie and daughter Judy Mogan. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Absecon , where the visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.
