ALSTON, LUCY SOMERVILLE - daughter of the late Bertha Somerville, was born October 10, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pa and departed this life on November 16, 2012, at the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. Lucy accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Coley Springs Baptist Church where she remained a active, loyal and faithful member. She was also a faithful member of Snow Hill Baptist Church Sunday School and was the secretary for over 40 years. She moved to Pleasantville in June 2002, and was under "watch care" at New Hope Baptist Church. On January 4, 1947, Lucy was united in marriage to the late Samuel P. Alston, until his passing in 1985. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; Isaac Somerville (Mary) of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Debbie Alston Molley (Michael) and Lena Blount (Bennie) of Pleasantville, New Jersey, Lucille Houston (Leonard) of Middletown, New York, Addie M. Smith (James) of St. George, South Carolina and Anthony Alston (Clare) of Ridgeway, North Carolina; twenty-two grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 21 great -great grandchildren; a special nephew, Gordon Johnny Christmas; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church, Lexington Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ at 11:00AM; where family and friends may view from 9:00-11:00 AM. Interment: Coley Springs Cemetery in Warrenton, North Carolina.
