Born in Epsom Surrey England he was the eldest son in a family of seven. Sandy trained as a Gas Fitter and later worked construction in the Seafield Pits in Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in June 1967 to work at the Endako Mine in Fraser Lake, bringing his wife Rita and five girls over five months later. Sandy worked at Endako for 27 years, retiring in 1994. Sandy and Rita enjoyed their retirement in Qualicum Beach for 13 years before returning to the central interior in 2007. He fought a brave battle with kidney failure and later cancer. Sandy (Dad) will be sadly missed, but will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His loving wife Rita of 58 years, daughters Sandra (Colin), Linda (Allan), Shirley, Carol (Bob), and Gillian (Mark), 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Celebration of Life service will be held on October 27th in the Fraser Lake Legion Hall from noon until 4:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
