A great friend and father was lost today. Bill (W.R.) Martin lost his truly courageous battle with cancer and will be sadly missed by all who knew him and who kept him company through many pots of coffee at his home. He lived through many happy and sad events in his life: the Great Depression, war time, the birthing and building of his own family, the building of his dream farm but also the loss of his son and wife too soon. He used all of his experiences to build a repertoire of stories and to build his character such that he always had good friends and company who enjoyed his insights, stories, and opinions, be as they may. Bill always respected hard-work, honesty and integrity - he was a very good judge of character. Thank you to the many people who loved Bill for who he was and who were so generous in the end with their time to help Bill live his last with dignity, humour, and peace. A very special mention and heartfelt thank you to the Hospice House and those who serve there - my father loved his stay there and the compassion and attention he received. A very special brand of people work there - thanks for those who can make an impact on a life until the end. In lieu of flowers, please be so kind as to make a donation to the Hospice House, 3089 Clapperton Street, Prince George, BC, V2L 5N4 - a place that everyone should have the opportunity to be involved with through volunteering or donations - a truly compassionate, dignified end. Predeceased by wife Karen, son Tom. Survived by daughter Lois, brothers Don and Ken. Sadly missed by many relatives and friends including his little dog, Shadow, who was a true companion.
