Frances passed away peacefully at Gateway Residential Care Facility with her family, friends and caretakers at Gateway by her side. She is survived by her sons, Chris (Anita), Rob, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kerry Bergeron (Pierre) in 2001. Frances was born and raised in Victoria and taught elementary school in many communities in B.C. Frances was a WAC Veteran, outstanding primary grade teacher and loving Mother and Grandmother. She moved to Prince George in the seventies to be with her daughter, Kerry, remaining here in care homes after Kerry passed away. Frances was a strong woman of character and overcame many personal and emotional obstacles, always trying to maintain her "proper" upbringing while keeping her dignity and sense of humour. Family fondly remembers Frances' love of nature, particularly birds. Some of her happiest years were spent living in Beach Grove where she could watch the birds on the beach. Special thanks to Gateway Complex Care staff and residents, to Lorna and Wayne who cared for Frances for many years before she entered Gateway and to Dr. Kane and Dr. Javed. Also, sincere thanks to her special friends, Dorothy and Verna, who regularly visited her at Gateway. There will be a family Memorial Service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Spirit of the North Health Care Foundation, directed to Gateway Complex Care in memory of Frances Lees would be greatly appreciated.
