Marjorie Elizabeth Niehaus Marjorie Elizabeth Niehaus passed away in Hospice House on September 5th, surrounded by love. She was born in St Paul Alberta on July 3, 1935. She was predeceased by her mother May in 1952 and father Al in 1985. She is survived by her brothers Bert (Jackie), Brian (Audrey) and Russ (Vera) , sister Audrey Mehmal, 10 nephews and nieces, 15 grand nephews and grand nieces, her housemate and special friend Gail Ross, and many other valued friends. She moved to Ladysmith in 1939 and later attended Teacher's Training at Victoria Normal School, followed by 3 years teaching in Kelowna and Burnaby. In 1962 she moved to Prince George for one year - and has been here ever since. She taught at PGSS until 1970 when she went to the U of A in Edmonton to get her Bachelor of Library Science. She returned to Prince George and worked at the District Resource Centre until her retirement in 1992. Marj was an avid golfer, gardener, world traveler, bridge player and cross country skier. She was very involved with the Business and Day Ladies golf as well as being the founder of the Ladies Seniors. She also volunteered at the medical equipment loan centre at the Red Cross for 19 years. One of her interests was working on the Retired Teachers Heritage Committee setting up a library of historical information and artifacts which resulted in the publishing of two books on the history of the schools in the Prince George School District. A very special thank you is extended to the Prince George Renal unit for their care and kindness during the past eight years, as well as the doctors and nurses of Prince George University Hospital who so ably took care of her. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Prince George Rotary Hospice House would be appreciated. Funeral services will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church at 11AM on Tuesday September 11th followed by a reception at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
