"Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint," Isaiah 40:30-31
With a renewed strength and steadfast belief in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we continue to hold fast to God's promise of eternal life, as we humbly release the precious soul of our dear son, father, brother, cousin and friend, Garland Linwood Lee Jr., affectionately known to his dear family and friends as "Man".
Man was escorted by the angels to Heaven's gates on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Richmond.
Man was a cute, adorable, bouncing baby boy who was a gift from God that was born to Deborah Taylor Doggett and Garland Linwood Lee Sr. on Feb. 16, 1977. He was greeted by many of his loving family members who now dwell in Heaven, namely, his stepfather, Richard W. Sample; his stepmother, Alice Lee; his grandmothers, Ann T. Fields and Louise Lee; his paternal grandfather, James A. Lee; stepgrandmother, Anna Lee; his aunt, Jean B. McKeever; his uncle, James "Hucklebuck" Lee; and a dear cousin, Anthonio Taylor.
Man received his formal education from the Hopewell City Public Schools and was a 1996 graduate of Hopewell High School.
Man was a blessing to his entire family. He had an incredible smile and a "happy-go-luck" demeanor that was a reflection of his jovial and kind-hearted spirit. He was a true and loyal Dallas Cowboy fan! He was a loving father who was tremendously devoted to his children. They were truly the "apple of his eye". He endured his debilitating condition with patience and determination. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many, many friends.
Loving memories of Man will be cherished by his adorable daughter, Amera Janae Lee; his amazing surrogate son, Izaiah Linwood Terry; his loving, faithful and devoted mother, Deborah Sample Doggett; his father, Garland L. Lee Sr.; his loving and devoted sister, Natasha M. Lee; his grandfather, Roy Morton; two aunts, Cheryl Taylor and Amy Hines (Edward); three uncles, Kenneth Taylor, Nathaniel Fields, and Earl Fields; step-aunt, Brenda Swarm (Al); many loving and devoted friends who were a blessing to Man and his family, H. Bertram "Bert" Boisseau, Larry Epps, Lisa Fescemyer, Lynn Hollister, Pastor Isaac Holmes, Terry Jackson, Joyce and Marshall Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lane, George Lumpkin, Lisa Mann, Viola McSwain, Teresa and Joe Pena, Vernetta Richardson, Annette Roache; and numerous cousins, neighbors, and friends.
A service of love and remembrance for Mr. Garland L. Lee Jr. will be held 5:30 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013, at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, 5500 Middle Road, Prince George, Pastor Roger Dean, pastor; the Rev. Marcus Leggett, officiating and Pastor Issac Holmes, eulogist.

Deborah and Tasha my heartfelt prayers are with you, Garland's children and the entire family. His obituary is the most beautiful obituary I have ever read providing the lifelong legacy of a young, Christian, family man. May the lasting memories you all have shared be held close in your heart and memory to provide strength for the days ahead. I know you know, the Lord will keep you in your weakest hour.
