On Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, Laura Ellen Hill completed her Earthly journey and entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Kinder Health Care Center, Henderson, N.C.
Laura, one of five children, was born March 7, 1926, to the late Tucker Fitchett and Lucille Palmer in Cape Charles, Va. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Laura was a very hard worker. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Laura loved to travel, she had been to many places in her day.
Laura was loved by all of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Tucker Fitchett and Lucille Palmer; her husband, Otha Hill Sr.; her son, James Hill; and four brothers, Arthur, Glender, Tucker and Albert Fitchett.
Left to cherish her fond memories are: her daughter, Mable Malloy of Henderson, N.C.; two sons, Robert Hill of Stony Creek, Va., and Otha Hill Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; two half-brothers, Robert Smith of Pennsylvania and Norman Bidbins of Henderson, N.C.; one half-sister, Margie Fulse; grandchildren, Sharmyce McGhaney, Laura Munnerlye, Captoria Simonton, Mona Parker (Reginald), Johnny Wilson, Anthony Hill, Jackey Hill, Sabrina Dallas (Paul), Andre Robertson, Laura Fay, Robert Hill, Glenn Hill, Shaqueenia Hill and Allen Hill; and many nieces and nephews; 26 great-grandchildren; and 40 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Hill will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the Chapel of Peace-Bland Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Ave., Waverly, VA 23890.
