JoAnn S. Blackburn, 65, of Hopewell, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Albert N. "Bo" & Hazel V. Smith of Hopewell. She was preceded in death by husband, Samuel W. Blackburn. Ms. Blackburn attended Hopewell High School and was a lifelong beautician.
She is survived by daughter, Ashley G. Franklin and husband Jay of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Margaret S. Kronberg and husband Donald of Chester, Va., and Vinnie L. Smith of Hopewell; neice, Linda B. Paulk and husband Charles of Portland, Texas; nephews, Ronald J. Billings Jr., David W. Billings, Steven M. Smith, and several great-neices and nephews.
The memorial will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 11 a.m., held at the Redemption Outreach Center, located at 101 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Va., with Pastor Chuck Crocker officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Redemption Outreach Center.
