Mr. Lindy Alphonzo Walker, "Ned," formerly of Dinwiddie, of 1114 St. James St., Petersburg, departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
Lindy was the youngest son of the late George and Rosena Walker. He attending Dinwiddie County Public Schools and joined Mt. Poole Baptist Church at an early age. Lindy was retired from Virginia Concrete and worked there for a number of years until his health began to decline.
Lindy was preceded in death by five brothers, Roger, George Jr., Collin and Deacons Earl, and John Waller.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Walker; son, Derrick Ellis; sisters, Mary L. Parham (Daniel) of South Chesterfield, Elsie M. Browder, Estelle Gant, Barby Roney of Petersburg; aunts, Annie M. Williams, Bessie Pegram, Gladys Jordan, Meridith Jiggets and Vernice Walker; one uncle, William Walker (Ann) of Louisville, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Lillie M. Walker, Shirley B. Walker, Deborah Walker, Anita Parham, Charlotte Parham (Carroll); brother-in-law, Wayne Ellis; a host of nieces, among them devoted, Dr. Katrina Walker, nephews, cousins and his Philadelphia family and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. Family is asked to assemble at the chapel at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the service.
