Revelation 21:4 (KJV) Mrs. Edith Mary Jane Scott Cooke was born on July 29, 1933, in Jarratt, Va., to her late parents, Earnest and Sally Scott. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized and became a member of Hunting Quarter Church in Stony Creek, Va. She truly loved the Lord. On Saturday, August 22 2015, Edith was called home to be with Christ while residing at Lucy Corr Village. She leaves to cherish precious memories to her children, Patricia Scott, Cynthia Coker (Arnold), Delbria Scott, Daniel Scott (Maureen), and Joel Cooke (Kim); grandchildren, Terry Coker (Tarshae), Rokia Scott, Darkeita Scott, Raekwon Cooke, Keanna Coker, and Devon Cooke; great-grandchildren, Tasia Coker, Niya Scott, Taliyah Coker, Christian Tyler, and Remington Scott; a loving sister, Lucy M. Peebles; and brothers, James Scott and Andrew Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services for Mrs. Edith Mary Jane Scott Cooke will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, Va., Rev. Dr. Carroll W. Robb, pastor of Hunting Quarter Baptist Church, Stony Creek, eulogist. Interment to follow at the Field Family Cemetery, Stony Creek. Wake services will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at the funeral establishment. COLEMAN JR., CHARLES E.  
Charles E. Coleman Jr. passed peacefully, at home, surrounded by family on August 18, 2015, at the age of 85. Charles was born on May 9, 1930, in Greenfield, Ohio, to Charles E. Coleman Sr. and Susie Jackson Coleman, one of 14 children. After high school, Charles entered the military and earned the rank of Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, serving 22 years. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal by the Department of the Army for his service from 1964-1969. Charles received numerous military awards during his Army career. Charles retired from active duty but continued to serve his government as a civilian for another 35 years as a Branch Chief in the Petroleum and Water Division at the Quartermaster School in Fort Lee, Virginia. Charles resided with his family in Matoaca, Virginia, and was an active community member serving as a Shriner for the Mocha Temple No. 7, Richmond, Virginia. In addition, he was a life-time member of Cedar Grove Lodge No. 17, Greenfield, Ohio, for over 50 years. Charles is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jeanne Canady Coleman; parents, Charles and Susie Coleman; brother, Glenn Coleman Sr.; and sister, Estella Jackson. Charles is survived by four children: Charles E. Coleman III (Brenda); Delilah Coleman Davis (Donald); Keith A. Coleman (Fonda), loving and devoted daughter, Anita Coleman Wynn; and special friends and adopted children, Dale and Linda Tharpe. Charles is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Marcus, Dawn, Keith Jr., Chris, Paul, Lourdes, Israel, Grace, Darius, Krista, and Kyleen, eight great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters and a host of loving friends. Charles' home going will be celebrated with a family visitation on Monday, August 24, 2015, 6-8 p.m. at the Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, 11 a.m. at the Matoaca Christian Fellowship at 7700 River Road, Matoaca, VA. CURTIS, CHARLES  
Charles Curtis born February 3, 1958, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. His is survived by his daughters, Katrina Curtis, Monica Curtis, Kimberly Curtis, Maranda Bell and her husband, Dustin Bell; grandchildren Tyler and Lyla; siblings and their families, Christopher Curtis, Clifford Curtis, Cheryl Brown, Carleen Smith, and Chawn Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Jeanne Curtis. He was a member of Saint James Catholic Church in Hopewell, Va., for 33 years. In 2013 he was ordained as a deacon and proudly served the Lord through his work. He lived what he believed through the ministries of Tri-Cities Workcamp and Cursillo. While he begins his eternal life in heaven, the mark he left on the lives he touched continues to live on daily. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Saint James Catholic Church, 510 W. Poythress Street, Hopewell VA, 23860 with a Rosary Service to begin at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Saint James with Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.charitywater.org in his honor. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son.
