Janice A. Sale, 70, of Prince George, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Riverview on the Appomattox. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Donna Allison Young and Victor Allen Young Sr. She was retired from Riverside Regional Jail with 11 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond Sale; a sister, Trudy Smith; a brother, Vick Young Jr.; sister-in-law, Lucy Horenstein (Dr. Martin Horenstein); numerous nieces and nephews; and a great-niece. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. WILLIAMS, ROBERT  
Mr. Robert Williams, affectionately known as "Petersburg Slim" went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Met Star Union Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Williams was a native of Petersburg, VA, and was raised in the Blandford Community. He was the son of the late Rosa Lee Williams and Nathaniel Williams. Petersburg Slim was known for wearing his suits, Stacey Adams Shoes, and hats, and he loved to have fun. He was a former employee of the Food Lion Distribution Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melody H. Williams; mother and father; a sister, Julia Gregory; and a brother, Nathaniel J. Gray. He is survived by four sons, Wayne Williams and Germaine Brooks of Petersburg, VA., Rev. Shawn Brooks (Marlo) of Smithfield, VA, and Don Brooks of California; one stepson, DaMar Brooks; two step daughters, Sherry Jones and Terry Brooks; numerous grandchildren; five sisters, Romona Gray of Petersburg, VA, Cheryl, Yolanda, Claytonia and Shelia, all of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Nathaniel and Herman, both of Baltimore; one aunt, Gertrude Williams Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services for Mr. Robert "Petersburg Slim" Williams will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Chapel of J.M. Joan Elizabeth Clark, 49, of Stafford, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015, after a long illness. Born on April 16, 1965, she was the daughter of Bill and Carol Ward of Colonial Heights, Virginia. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Aaron Clark of Stafford, Virginia; sons, Staff Sergeant of US Army Joshua Ferron and wife Baylee of Fort Benning, Georgia, Tyler Ferron of Stafford, Virginia, Travis Clark of Greenville, North Carolina, Tyler Clark of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Logan Clark of Mechanicsville, Virginia; daughter, Kristin Ferron of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandchildren, Brennan and Easton; and sisters Chrissy Winfield (Carly and Grace) and husband Gordon "B" of Dinwiddie, Virginia, and Lisa Briley and husband Rusty of Colonial Heights, Virginia; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Joanie will forever be remembered for her love of life, family, and friends, who will continue to celebrate her will, strength, and compassion for others. A life celebration for Joanie will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia, on April 16, 2015, with a fellowship gathering to begin at 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at noon. FIELDS, CORNELIUS R.  
CORNELIUS R. FIELDS Mr. Cornelius Ray Fields "Cornbread", 59, of 1025 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1955, to his parents, the late Dorothy Fields and Robert Brooks. Mr. Cornelius served in the United States Army for eight years during his early life and was employed for 25 years with the NCO Regimental Club in Fort Lee. He loved spending time with his family, watching TV and stayed busy working. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd Fields; and five aunts. He leaves to cherish his precious moments: seven sons, Albert Fields, Shaun Spratley Sr., Christopher Spratley, D'Shay Cooke, Marquis Cooke, Cornelius Cooke and Rontonio Cooke; one sister, Beverly Fields; 10 grandchildren, six aunts, one uncle, Frank Muhammad; four nieces and one nephew; host of great-nieces, and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins and friends, among the devoted, Diane Fields, Yvonne Eason and Barbara Spratley. Special thanks to his devoted second family at NCO Regimental Club. Celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the chapel of William N. GREGG, DARRELL L.  
Retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer Darrell Leroy Gregg, 72, of Colonial Heights, died on March 21, 2015. He was employed by the City of Dallas, Texas, as a civil engineer. He was an active member of of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Perry Gregg. He is survived by one daughter, Natalie Lynn Gregg; and one son, Nathan Perry Gregg. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell, Va., with Pastor Steve Vornov officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Hopewell, Va. He will be buried with his beloved wife at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va.

HIGGINS, JAMES F.  
James "Jimmy" Francis Higgins of Colonial Heights, Virginia, lost his life in a car accident on Friday, March 20. He was 24 years old, just two days shy of his 25th birthday. Jimmy was born on March 22, 1990, in Warwick New York and grew up in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He graduated from Colonial Heights High School in 2009. He had recently received his Private Investigator license and was looking forward to starting his practice. He was passionate about liberty and protecting the rights defined in our constitution. He played an active role in organizations such as the Right to Bear Arms Richmond and he led the Petersburg/Colonial Heights division for Virginia Cop Block.Through these organizations, he gained new friends and educated many on their rights. On Sunday, March 22, life-long friends gathered to celebrate his 25th birthday and on Monday, March 23, many members of the community came together at White Bank Park in Colonial Heights to celebrate Jimmy and the hope to "pass the baton" so that his legacy of helping those in need continues. Jimmy is survived by his parents, Sean and Patricia (of Colonial Heights), and siblings, John (of Suffolk, Va), Jennifer (of Boston, Ma), Stephanie (of Chesterfield, Va) and Charlie (of San Clemente, Ca). He is also survived by his extended family of brothers and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Cerberus and a wealth of friends. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 1, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Colonial Heights at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend. Jimmy was loved by his family and friends and will be missed.
