AMPEY, GENEVA  
Early Thursday morning, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called home our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousins, and friend, Mrs. Geneva Ampey of 433 Briggs Lane, Jarratt, Va. Born on December 25, 1936, to the late Allen Jones and Annie Bates Jones; she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Ampey; five sisters and seven brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories nine devoted children, five sons, Ervin Jones, Jerry Ampey (Wanda), Willie A. Ampey, Alvin Ampey (Latanya), and John Ampey (Crystal); four daughters, Lucy Pulliam (Casterduarl), Edith Ampey, Alice Powell (Edward) and Laura Fletcher (James); nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Phillips; one brother, James Jones; two sisters-in-law, Volia Prosise (Leroy) of Stony Creek, Va., and Ella Jones of Emporia, Va.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too numerous to count. Geneva Ampey will always be cherished in our hearts. Viewing for Mrs. Geneva Ampey was held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015, at J.M. BROWN, DONALD E.  
Donald E. Brown, 85, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 31, 1929, to the late Edward H. and Gertrude Taylor Brown. Mr. Brown was a United State Army Veteran and was an employee of Walmart. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara E. Brown; son, Dr. Robert E. Brown M.D. and wife, Renee; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Lily Brown; two brothers-in-law, Eugene and Doyle Elkins; and a sister-in-law, Linda Mullins and husband Randy; and a niece Rasheil Mullins. MCCANDLESS, GORDON L.  
Gordon Leon McCandless, 92, died Friday, May 1, 2015. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilma and brothers, Kenneth and Donald. Surviving is daughter, Barbara Jellison (Dale); and son, Melvin McCandless (Janice); grandchildren, Jason McCandless, Sonja McCandless, Dwain Billmyer (Kathy), Jeff Billmyer (Ellen), and Chuck Billmyer (Carey). He enjoyed life, family, and his many friends, whom he greatly amused with his stories and jokes. He always had a smile on his face, never met a stranger, and inspired many. Gordon can now join the love of his life, Hilma Gray Bailey McCandless, whom he has missed these last 5 years. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke for their excellent care and love given to Gordon. A graveside service will be held at Ameila Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Carol Vaughan Ogburn of Hopewell passed away on April 29, 2015, at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg. Carol was born May 11, 1951, to Samuel and Josephine Vaughan of Waverly, VA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine; and brother, James "Bubba" Vaughan. To cherish her memory she leaves her daughter, Erin Ogburn of Richmond; her father, Sam Vaughan of Waverly; sister, Barbra Vaughan of Richmond; brother, Wayne Vaughan (Ja'net) of Waverly; two granddaughters, Malika and Jyden; two nephews, Marques and Terrance; four nieces; one great-niece; five great-nephews; five aunts; cousins; and devoted friends. A homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at First Baptist Church of City Point, 1117 Pierce Street, Hopewell, VA. Ms. Addie Maxine Price of Richmond, Va., returned home on Monday, April 27, 2015. She was born May 11, 1932, in McDowell County, West Virginia, the daughter of Lizzie Belcher and Arthur Wooley. In 1995, she moved to Virginia to be close to her children. She relocated to Richmond, Va., where she attended Fountain of Christ, Richmond, Va. She leaves to cherish her memories, five children, Sonsearah J. Walker of Richmond, Va., Paul Price (Christine Irving-Price) and Alfreda Price, both of Bronx, NY, Arthur Bernard Price (Deirdre Mckeller-Price) of Freeport, NJ, Andrew Price of Bronx, NY and Anthony Price of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Henry Dudley (Michele Rae-Dudley) of New Jersey, Michelle Walker-McCullough (Durojaiye McCullough) of Richmond, VA, Latoria Price and Renee Price both of Albany, New York, Nicole Price of Bronx, NY, Bernard Price, Shenice Price, Darius Price, DontaƩ Price; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Wooley and James Junior Anderson, both of West Virginia; niece, Edith Allen of West Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Jeanne S. Rainey, 68, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at her residence. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Albert D. and Helen Townsend Seymour. Ms. Rainey retired with 37 years of service as a Housing Specialist with Fort Lee Civil Service, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Fifty and Better Club. She is survived by three daughters, Pamela Wade and husband, Keith; Jennifer Keppler and husband, Justin; Kelly Kilbourne and husband, Matt; two sons, Dennis Rainey Jr. and David Rainey and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Clint, Dale, Tiffany, Josh, Hannah, Caleb, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Jake, Gracie, Amelia, Madison, and Abby; great-grandson, Josh Jr.; sisters, Judy Davis and Jana Bryant; brothers, Jeff and Johnny Seymour; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Frances Lee and Linda Hass. Mae Daniels Sparkman, 98, of Chester, stepped into Eternity to meet the Lord on Friday May 1, 2015. Mae is preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Della Gertrude Humphreys Daniels; husband, Rudy Sparkman Sr.; daughter, Naomi Clay; son, Delmas Sparkman; and 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Glenna Brown and husband, Frank; son, Rudy Sparkman Jr.; devoted great-granddaughter and caregiver, Morgan Manson and husband, Jonathan; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty McKnight; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family, and friends. Mae was a devoted mother and grandmother who was also very involved with her churches and her church families. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church for over 35 years. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m to 8 p.m on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Born in Buckingham County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elmo Walker and Frances Sloan Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George W. Antle; and son, Frederick C. Sprouse. She is survived by her son, Steven W. Antle and his wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Georgina M. Antle (George C. Angone) and Vickie T. Sprouse (Cleveland Taylor); grandchildren, Teresa Davis, Kristopher Antle, Katherine Antle, Chelsey Mallory, Maryssa Mallory, Dylan Morris, Victoria Morales; great-grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Bryson Davis, and Brentley Harrison; sister, Beckie Smith and her husband, Ryland; and nephew, Dwayne Stinson. The family will receive friends 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Paulette Eve Turley, 66, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Paulette's contagious smile, "can do" spirit, and excitement for life will be deeply missed. Paulette was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine, and her brother, Jot Eve, a US Marine Corps jet pilot. She is survived by her daughter, Amie Turley Leonard and husband, Robbie (Chester); son, Clint Turley and wife, Leslie (Chester); son, Paul Turley and wife, Jeri (Chester); son, Shane Turley and wife, Chrissi (Charlotte, NC); 10 grandchildren: Corey, Dylan, Austin, Noah, Miranda, Alex, Jackson, Walker, Kennedy and Olivia; her father, Pinckney Eve (96), and his wife, Carroll (Beaufort, SC); her sister, Shafiya Eve (Beaufort); her sister, Wil Horton and husband, Johnny (Chester); and niece, Breeze Woodall (Jacksonville, FL); the father of her children, Steve Turley; 2 special, longtime friends, Lee "Peanut" Trainum and Jewell Bennett; and her former co-workers at DuPont. Paulette loved the water, including jet skiing with her family and friends, fishing with her former companion, Conner, and caring for her animals, Sibby, Booty and Georgette; (special thanks to her neighbor, Terry, for her help over the years), and the gracious employees of her favorite local restaurants. The family is incredibly proud to announce that because she was an organ donor and made her wishes known, Paulette's death resulted in saving 4 human lives.
